The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14).
Heavenly Father, in You we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). You are our shield, our guide, our protector, our provider. In Your Presence we find joy (Psalm 16:11). You are our everything—apart from You we can do nothing (John 15:5). No wonder Moses begged for the promise of Your Presence before moving forward!
Lord, like Moses, like David, like millions of human hearts through human history, I pray for the shelter of Your Presence. I pray that I would always "dwell in the shelter of the Most High," and "rest in the shadow of the Almighty." (Psalm 91:1)
Help me to keep moving forward in obedience and faith, but only where You lead. When I face a maze of choices, give me godly wisdom and discernment. Help me not to be influenced by the wrong measures. If Your Presence doesn't go with me, do not send me up from here.
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in his temple. For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock (Psalm 27:4-5).
