But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
Father in Heaven, Your thoughts are not our thoughts, and our ways are not Your ways. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [Your] ways higher than [our] ways and [Your] thoughts than [our] thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9). You have proven over and over that regardless of changing and prevailing human thoughts and ideas, all wisdom is Yours, all power is Yours.
Lord, in my weaknesses, show Your strength. Fill me today with "the wisdom that comes from heaven...pure...peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Let me demonstrate wisdom and understanding by living a "good life, [and] by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom." Keep my heart free from "bitter envy" and "selfish ambition." (James 3:13-17). Help me to value others as You do, and to show love and grace to those who, from a human perspective, are considered weak, lowly or despised.
Lord, I have nothing of which to boast. Thank You for the love and the grace You have shown to me.
