"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish…, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11).
Sovereign God, You are The Mighty One, God, the Lord [who] speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets (Psalm 50:1).
Your word accomplishes all You desire—Your word achieves Your purpose and fulfills Your perfect plan—Your words are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times (Psalm 12:6).
Loving Father, we thank You for Your salvation purpose, Your redemption plan. We thank You for the words of the Saviour, "full of the Spirit and life" (John 6:63). We thank You that He brought us Your words of eternal life:
"For I did not speak on My own, but the Father who sent Me commanded Me to say all that I have spoken. I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told Me to say” (John 12:49-50)
O Father, let us hear You above the din and the noisy, restless confusion of the world. Above the noise of futile fighting, ceaseless striving, constant clamoring, empty babbling. Let it not be said of us, "to whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it" (Jeremiah 6:10).
Exalted God, You are in Your holy temple, You are on Your heavenly throne (Psalm 11:4). Teach us to "be still and know that [You are] God" (Psalm 46:10). Let our ears be open and receptive to the hope You speak into our souls, the peace You speak into our spirits, the love Your pour into our hearts. Let the word You send cause us to thrive, and bud, and flourish, and accomplish Your purpose of redemption and healing and reconciliation.
