Day 2: Divine Deposit
[God] anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
Lord God Almighty, Triune God, our Lord Jesus, God the Son, promised His disciples and us, I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth (John 14:16-17). And You, Father, sent us the Holy Spirit as a Divine Deposit, affirming our calling as children of God, and guaranteeing the glorious inheritance You promised (Ephesians 1:18).
You have assured us, Lord, that we do not have to do this difficult life alone. You have given us all we need in the person of the Holy Spirit. In His strength and His power we are able to stand firm in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:21).
We are unrelentingly singled out by the accuser... who accuses the brothers and sisters before our God day and night (Revelation 12:10). But in the Holy Spirit, You have given us an advocate (John 14:16, 26).
We are racked by the pains and griefs of this life. But in the Holy Spirit, You have given us a comforter (John 14:26-27).
We are waylaid by fear, and by the perplexities and contradictions in this broken world. But in the Holy Spirit You have given us power, and love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)
We are limited by our weakness, unsure how to pray. But in the Holy Spirit You have given us a helper, a teacher, an intercessor, a divine interpreter (Romans 8:26-27).
We are besieged by lies and deceit at every turn. But in the Holy Spirit You have given us The Guide into all the truth (John 16:13)
O God, thank You for this One who comes alongside us, walks with us, talks with us, reassures us that we are Yours—sealed for the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).
Holy Spirit, Truth divine, Dawn upon this soul of mine; Word of God and inward light Wake my spirit, clear my sight.
Holy Spirit, Love divine, Glow within this heart of mine; Kindle every high desire; Perish self in Thy pure fire.
