Day 2: He knows
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).
O Lord, sovereign and mighty, You alone know and You alone make known the end from the beginning; You alone are sovereign over the affairs of men—You alone are sovereign over all kingdoms on earth; Your purpose alone prevails (Isaiah 46:10, Daniel 4:17).
Moses knew this when he stood on the threshold of the unknown, and entreated, “If Your [distinguishing] Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here" (Exodus 33:15).
This is our prayer to You, O God as we stand on the threshold of a New Year, with its unknowns and its uncertainties, its openings and its opportunities.
Guide us, Lord, Jesus, for You are the Way. Defend us, for You are the Truth. Sustain us, for You are the Life. Surround us with Your Presence and give us rest in Your shelter. For the sake of Your great name and Your tender compassion. Amen.
