Daily Affirmations - Day 2 - We Matter: God Knows Our Pain

Day 2: God knows our pain

“You see the people crowding against You,” His disciples answered, “and yet You can ask, ‘Who touched Me?’” (Mark 5:31)

Father in heaven, You are a God of perfect love, perfect goodness, perfect justice. David prayed for his son Solomon to be endowed with the justice and righteousness of God (Psalm 72:1)—a justice and righteousness characterized by care and compassion for the needy and afflicted.

In the ministry of the Lord Jesus, You show us that You deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help (Psalm 72:12). In His interaction with a desperate woman swallowed by a crowd, Jesus gives us an amazing example of Your compassion for the unseen, the forgotten, the voiceless, the timid, the insignificant.

Loving God, You show us that You hear the desire of the afflicted above the noise of the crowd. You distinguish our desperation even in a surge of needs. You feel our touch in the midst of the throng. You discern our imprint in the pressing mass.

Today, we pray for the helpless and the hopeless. We pray for the suffering and the exhausted, the desperate and the depleted. We pray for those whose hope has seeped out over years of false promises, failed treatments, dead-end avenues, stalled initiatives.

O Father, You are our help when we are utterly and completely helpless, our hope when circumstances tempt us to despair. Touch our lives today with Your healing, grace, strength, and endurance.

You are the God who knows our pain. You know the cup of suffering. Let it pass, or give us what we need to bear it. Your will be done. Touch us with the power that can come from only You.
