Daily Affirmations - Day 3 - We Matter: God Delivers Us From Snares

Day 3: God delivers us from snares

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the hunter (Psalm 91:3 – Modern English Version).

O Most High God, those who dwell in Your shelter will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. You are our refuge and fortress, the almighty, trustworthy God (Psalm 91:1-4).

On this pilgrim journey our path is marked by twists and turns, unknown dangers and unexpected obstacles. We do not know the way. But You do.

Indeed You are the Way, Blessed Lord Jesus. Lead us, guide us, for You know the way that we take (Job 23:10). You know every danger, toil, and snare. You know that our enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). You know everything in our nature, in our experiences, and in our leanings that he would seek to exploit. Deliver us from his snares.

Deliver us from the snares of unhealthy patterns and harmful carryovers from the past that sabotage our present and threaten our future.

Deliver us from the snares of pride and insecurity that cause us to fear humans and dishonor God.

Deliver us from the snares of worry and anxiety, want and discontent, excess and over-indulgence, that rob our peace and jeopardize our well-being.

Deliver us from the snares of jealousy and envy, greed and selfishness, that embitter our spirits and ruin our relationships.

Deliver us from the snares of dawdling and distraction, apathy and procrastination, that hinder the call to prayer and neglect the work of love.

Deliver us from the snares of besetting and entangling sin—the sin that crouches at our door, desiring to have us. Help us by Your great power to gain mastery. (Hebrews 12:1; Genesis 4:7).

Today, we choose to commit our way to You in full trust. You have promised that You will act. (Psalm 37:5). Set us free from the limitations of fear, doubt and unbelief.

Today, we choose to seek the shelter of Your resting place, the shadow of Your presence, the covering of Your grace. Today, we choose to believe the instruction and the assurance of Your word: My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare (Psalm 25:15).

Thou my everlasting portion, More than friend or life to me, All along my pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee.

Refrain: Close to Thee, close to Thee, Close to Thee, close to Thee; All along my pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee.
