Day 4: To keep us from falling
Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to make you stand without blemish in the presence of His glory with rejoicing, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen (Jude 1:24-25 - NRSVUE).
Loving Father in heaven, caring compassionate God, You watch over Your people for their good (Jeremiah 24:6).
You have told us that we are not exempt from the challenges, the hardships, the pain and the trials of this life (John 16:33). But You have promised Your presence and Your peace, Your comfort and Your strength. You have promised to uphold us with Your hand (Psalm 37:24).
We thank You that the One who sustains the universe upholds up (Colossians 1:15-17) and will keep us from falling (Jude 24). Thank You, Lord Jesus for Your sustaining power.
Jesus, my Lord, my life, my all,
In Thee I trust, in Thee I hide;
I know Thou wilt not let me fall
If I stay by Thy side.
Refrain:
In Thy dear hands of love I lay,
Fulfill Thy purposes in me;
Teach me to say from day to day,
Thy will be done in me.
The storms of life are fierce and dark,
And hosts of Satan press me hard;
But still Thy strength can keep my bark,
Though broken and sin-scarred.
Though hard the cross, the burden great,
And I so weak, so poor, undone;
Yet on Thy side I’ll stand and wait,
Till victory is won.
The battle, Lord, is Thine, and we,
Though foe may kill us; yet I see
Thy blood sets poor dead captives free,
Though fierce the war may be.
