Daily Affirmations - Day 4 - Motivated by Love: No Limits

Day 4: No Limits

“Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.” The man took Jesus at His word and departed. While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.” Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed (John 4:50-53).

O Lord our God, the psalmist reminds us of both Your sovereignty and Your faithfulness: Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does (Psalm 145:12).

We often grieve and dishonor You with our dullness, our unbelief and our lack of faith. You, Lord Jesus, pointed out our tendency to work only through the limitations of physical eyesight, rather than with the superior vision of guiding faith.

You responded to the royal official's request for help: “Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe” (John 4:48).And yet, Lord, in Your mercy and grace You meet us in our doubt and confusion, struggling to hold onto our mustard grain of faith.

Ultimately it was only compassion You showed this father, who, motivated by love and concern for his sick child, had traveled an entire day's journey to seek Your help. And ultimately, You taught him to recognize the narrow scope of his original request, "Sir, come down before my child dies" (John 4:49).

Lord, increase our faith! Take us to that place where we too, abandon our limits and narrow expectations. Teach us faith in a God whose all-transcending power knows no limits. Teach us to trust You with any location, any circumstance, any timetable.

Give us the faith and trust to put our requests before You and depart in peace, taking You at Your word. Give us a testimony of trust that results in belief for not just us, but our entire household and those around us.
