Daily Affirmations - Day 4 - The Best Things in Life: Fully Satisfied

Day 4: Fully satisfied

I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory. Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You. I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise You (Psalm 63:2-5).

Heavenly Father, how applicable to us is the prayer of David, O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water (Psalm 63:1 – NKJV)!

We may not be in a physical desert, but Your eyes see, our Father, the spiritual landscape of this broken world—its desolate, sin-scorched barrenness—a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. And You know the desperate search by parched human souls for a life-giving flow. You know the wandering, and the seeking, the disappointments and the mirages.

And yet the voice of Jesus resounds through the ages:

"Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life" (Revelation 22:17).

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:13-14).

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me, and let the one who believes in Me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water’ ” (John 7:37-38 – NRSVUE).

Lord, we thirst! Only You can satisfy. Open our eyes to see You in the sanctuary and behold Your power and Your glory (Psalm 63:2). Help us to experience the truth, as David did, that Your love is better than life itself.

As we walk through this desert land, drench its furrows and level its ridges…soften it with showers and bless its crops (Psalm 65:10). Our souls long for you. Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days (Psalm 90:14).
