Daily Affirmations - Day 5 - Better Than One: Steady Hands

Day 5: Steady hands

But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun (Exodus 17:12 - ESV).

We lift to You our prayers and praises, our God and Father, who trains our hands for battle (Psalm 18:34). We come to You, in full dependence on Your mighty power as we struggle... against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6: 10, 12).

Oh God! You know our weaknesses, our frailties, our failings, our fears, our misgivings. Often, the battle is long, and our heart is overwhelmed, and our strength gives out. Our hands grow weary, and we can barely lift our prayer to You, Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless (Psalm 10:12).

No wonder the apostle Paul beseeched the Roman believers, I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me (Romans 15:30).

O Thou God of all, help us to rally round Your banner. Open our understanding to the needs around us—the sights and sounds of prayerless defeat. Help us to join in the struggle by praying to God. Help us to lift each other onto the Rock—the only God our Savior—joining hands on all sides.

We know that through our God, we will gain the victory, for You will trample down our enemies (Psalm 60:12). Keep our hands steady till the going down of the sun:

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you” (Isaiah 35:3-4).
