Day 5: Thanks and honor to Him give
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations (Psalm 100:4-5).
It is said that in a time of great despondency among the first settlers in New England, it was proposed in one of their public assemblies to proclaim a fast. An old farmer arose; spoke of their provoking heaven with their complaints, reviewed their measures, showed that they had much to be thankful for, and moved that instead of appointing a day of fasting, they should appoint a day of thanksgiving. This was done; and the custom has been continued ever since...
~ D.L. Moody ~ Prevailing Prayer
All ye lands and all ye people,
Sing unto the Lord your King!
Make a joyful noise before Him,
Cheerful anthems to Him bring.
Refrain:
Praise and glory to the Lord Jehovah!
Thanks and honor to Him give;
Praise and glory to the Lord Jehovah!
By His mercy we live.
Serve the Lord your God with gladness
For the mercy He has shown;
Come into His glorious presence
Singing praise before His throne.
Know ye that the Lord hath made us,
We ourselves did not create;
We’re His sheep and He’s our Shepherd,
God the only Potentate.
With thanksgiving His gates enter,
Come into His courts with praise;
Bless His name, all ye His people,
Thankful hearts unto Him raise.
For the Lord is good and gracious,
And His truth endureth e’er,
Everlasting are His mercies—
O my soul, His praise declare.
