Daily Affirmations - Day 6 - Grateful: He Has Shown Kindness

Day 6: He has shown kindness

"We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. In the past, He let all nations go their own way. Yet He has not left Himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy” (Acts 14:15-18).

Father in heaven, You are the true God... the living God, the eternal King (Jeremiah 10:10). You have placed within us that which seeks after life, and goodness—that which seeks after You. Yet, You have given us the freedom to choose—all the while providing us with evidence of Your sovereign power, Your compassion, Your goodness, Your kindness.

The heavens declare Your glory, the skies proclaim the work of Your hands (Psalm 19:1). You set in motion all the rhythms and patters of creation (Psalm 104; Job 38-41) and You sustain all things by Your powerful word (Hebrews 1:3).

"Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men" writes the psalmist (Psalm 107:15 - NKJV). But the hearts of humans are easily turned to worship and serve created things rather than the Creator (Romans 1:25).

Yet, Your grace and mercy, Your providential goodness, are available to all: You cause Your sun to rise on the evil and the good, and send rain on the righteous and the unrighteous (Matthew 5:45).

God of creation, You made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. Thank You for giving....rain from heaven and crops in their seasons. Thank You for providing plenty of food, thank You for Your lovingkindness and for Your generous provision.

Thank You that in this, Your age of mercy, You still hold out Your message of good news to all—the gift of the living God in place of the worthless things of this world. Open hearts to receive the good news of Your amazing grace. Let it fill callous or despairing hearts with joy.
