Daily Affirmations - Day 6 - I Remember Your Name: Three in One

Day 6: Three in One

And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13).

Lord Jesus, we come to You as the disciples came so long ago, with the request, teach us to pray (Luke 11:1).

You have instructed us throughout Your word, that we should always pray (Luke 18:1; 21:36). And You have given us the assurance, "I will do whatever you ask in My name..." (John 14:13). But often we misunderstand that to mean that we only have to use the words, "In Jesus' Name" in our prayers.

Lord, You showed us that You were, in fact, giving us instructions in matters far greater than specific words to use "by rote". You made it clear that the glory of God is the ultimate outcome we should seek—that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13). But in our limited human knowledge, wisdom, outlook, and capacity, we need help in praying for our needs, our cares, and our concerns in ways that honor and glorify You.

The apostle Paul assures us that Holy Spirit is our guide in prayer: The Spirit helps us in our weakness: We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans (Romans 8:26).

This is an amazing gift and privilege, for You have told us that the Holy Spirit would teach, remind, and testify about You (John 14:26; 15:26), and that He would glorify You: He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you” (John 16:14).

May we seek to glorify You, O Lord, as through the grace of the Triune God, Three in One—we approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:14, 16).

We thank You, Holy Father—God who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see (1 Timothy 6:16)—You have made a way for us to see You, to approach You, to know You.

We thank You, Lord Jesus—By Your blood, we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place... by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, Your body… (Hebrews 10:19-20).

We thank You, Holy Spirit—The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10). You help us to pray as we ought, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
