Daily Affirmations - Day 7 - The Best Things in Life: Indescribable Gift

Day 7: Indescribable gift

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:9-11).

Heavenly Father, God of "tender mercy... by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace” (Luke 1:78-79).

Zechariah the priest, filled with the Holy Spirit.... prophesied in song over his son John (the Baptist) as he grasped the significance of the birth of his own son, and the promised Son and Savior of the world: "And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him, to give His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins…" (Luke 1:76-77).

You had promised the greatest gift of love to humanity—Your own divine Son to dwell among mortals, in order to reconcile a fallen and broken world to Yourself through His death on a cross (Romans 5:10). Rejoicing angels delivered to terrified shepherds this good news that will cause great joy for all the people (Luke 2:10).

Thank You Father, for the best gift of all—the matchless, indescribable gift of salvation through the forgiveness of sins (Luke 1:77). Thank You for divine favor (Luke 2:14) and peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand (Romans 5:1-2).

Thank You that You do not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities (Psalm 103:10). Instead You gave us the gift of Your only Son to pay for us the wages of sin...[eternal] death and give us in exchange the gift of God...eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

“Glory to God in the highest heaven!" (Luke 2:14).
