Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing (Isaiah 40:26).
Lord of all creation, the heavens declare [Your] glory; the skies proclaim the work of [Your] hands (Psalm 19:1). You are the One and Only Almighty God, beyond knowledge, beyond comprehension. Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders (Exodus 15:11)?
O kind and loving Father, it is staggering to comprehend, that You, the glorious and majestic God, desire to draw us to You. You desire to carry out Your will through loyal and surrendered hearts. Help us to follow where You call us, secure in the knowledge that You are God, that You are good, and that You have the best plan for our life.
O Father, we have Your promise that "the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him" (1 Chronicles 16:9 NKJV). We confess to You our shaky loyalty. We confess to You our fears. We confess to You our puny faith. We confess to You our lack of understanding that You are indeed God.
Change our thinking, renew our minds. Teach us to rely on Your great power and strength. Help us to grasp the truth that "In [Your] hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to [You]. The sea is [Yours], for [You] made it, and [Your] hands formed the dry land" (Psalm 95:4-5).
Help us to trust You with abandon, like Abraham, who, "by faith, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going" (Hebrews 11:8).
Father, You invited Abraham to look up and recognize the infinite power of Your promise in the multitude of the starry host. Help us to so lift our gaze and understand that the One who brings out the starry host and calls forth each by name—the One who accounts for each one so that not one of them is missing—is the One who is holding us up.
Help us to step out into the deep as You call us. Help us to follow the sound of your guiding voice, bidding us, "Come," as You lead the way to strength, maturity and ultimate victory.
