Daily Affirmations - Failed Fixes and Flying Feathers - Day 5

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken Me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water” (Jeremiah 2:13).

Our Father, You are the source of all life, the spring of living water. Fill our thirsty souls. You are the only One who can satisfy our deepest longings. "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God" (Psalm 42:1-2).

Thank You, Lord, for Your great love and kindness. Thank you for Your invitation, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters..." (Isaiah 55:1). Thank You for calling us from our barren wastelands, from our futile attempts to dig our "own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water" (Jeremiah 2:13).

Thank You for extending grace even when, like the woman at the well, (John 4) we do not recognize our thirst. When we do not understand "the gift of God" (John 4:10). Thank you for seeking us out with intent when the rest of the world would bypass us. Thank You for offering us living water when we are left parched and empty from the things we thought would satisfy.

Thank You for opening our eyes and our understanding. Thank You, that when we come face to face with our mess, and our brokennesswhen we finally see our emptiness and our need—You call us to leave our jars of shame, disillusionment, and failure, and be filled with Your "spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

Fill my cup, Lord;

I lift it up Lord;

Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.

Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.

Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.
