If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him (Matthew 7:11)!
Our Father in heaven, You are a God who gives. From the dawn of creation Your overwhelming generosity is evident in every element of Your perfect design.
You created lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth (Genesis 1:15).
You provided food for Your creation, telling the first humans, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it...And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food” (Genesis 1:29-30).
And when humans were ungrateful, and rebelled against Your authority, You brought deliverance from death and destruction by providing the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).
Father, You gave us the ultimate gift—For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Thank You, that in Him You have provided every benefit we will ever need.
In Him You forgive all our sins: For [God] has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13-14).
In Him You heal all our diseases—But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). And although we know that while we live in this "earthly tent," we will not be healed from every sickness and disease in this world, all healing does come from You, and You have provided the ultimate healing from the disease and curse of sin.
In Him You redeem our life from the pit and crown us with love and compassion. Of our Lord Jesus the prophet Isaiah wrote, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to...proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes..." (Isaiah 61:1, 3)
In Him You satisfy our desires with good things—And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6-7).
We worship You in gratitude Father of lights, giver of all good gifts! Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits... (Psalm 103:1-2)
