Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel…and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs...to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic crafts. And He has given both him and Oholiab...the ability to teach others" Exodus 35:30-34).
Loving Father in heaven, Your hands formed us—"You created [our] inmost being; You knit us together in [the] womb" (Psalm 139:13). You have created us with value, and with worth— "Indeed, the very hairs of [our] head are all numbered" (Luke 12:7). You have made us with unique characteristics, personalities, skills, and talents.
We thank You that You have a special plan and purpose for our lives. Your word tells us that "to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: 'When He ascended on high, He took many captives and gave gifts to His people'" (Ephesians 4:7-8).
As with Bezalel and Oholiab, whom You filled with Your Spirit and specially equipped to build Your tabernacle, so You uniquely equip us to do what You have called us to do. Help us not to be daunted or distracted. Help us not to lose courage, or grow weary, "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).
Help us to be continually "filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). Let Your Spirit fill us "with wisdom, with understanding with knowledge and with all kinds of skills" (Exodus 35:31). By Your mighty power at work in us, enable us to finish our task. For Your glory, Lord. And as we work and pray, may Your kingdom come, and may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
