Daily Affirmations - Unforgettable - Day 2

For the sake of His great name the Lord will not reject His people, because the Lord was pleased to make you His own (1 Samuel 12:22).

Our Father in heaven, You are the exalted God—in Your temple all cry "Glory" (Psalm 29:9)! We bow before Your holy throne and gratefully acknowledge, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb” (Revelation 7:10).

Faithful God, we think of all the ways we may not measure up in the eyes of the world. According to world standards, we may not be beautiful enough, rich enough, sophisticated enough, cool enough, thin enough, tall enough, young enough, old enough, athletic enough, strong enough, intelligent enough, gifted enough, worthy enough. But You, Father, embrace us all in Your grace. You do not reject us. No one who comes to you is cast out, or turned away (John 6:37)

Long ago, You set in motion Your great plan for humanity when You called Your people out of captivity. You led and fed them, and made them a great nation. You did not choose them because of their numbers, their might, or their importance—they were the least of all peoples (Deuteronomy 7:7). It was only because You were pleased to make them Your own. Oh Lord, what a thought! In Your great love, in Your great mercy, You were pleased to make them Your own.

In the same way, when the set time had fully come, and You revealed Your salvation to the whole world, You saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of Your mercy (Titus 3:5). You conferred on us unbelievable worth, reconciling us to Yourself through the great sacrifice of Your Son.

Thank You for meeting us in our sin and our estrangement from God, offering us forgiveness, cleansing, hope, healing, and rest for our souls. Thank you for calling us out of captivity. Thank You for leading us, and for feeding us with every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).

Thank You that for the sake of Your great name, You are pleased to make us Your own. Let that sink in to souls that are hurt and wounded. Let that sink in to hearts that are fragile and impressionable. Let the knowledge of Your great love protect our minds from shallow standards, destructive comparisons, and worldly worries.

Shield us from the deceptive power of false or superficial values that lead to jealousy, envy, malice, covetousness and discontent. Help us to live fully in Your grace, experiencing the peace and security of Your love and esteem.
