Daily Affirmations - Unforgettable - Day 6

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them (Isaiah 41:17).

Exalted God, You alone are Living Water, the Fountain of Life for parched and weary souls. You have placed that which within our soul cries out to you like the psalmist, "You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek You; I thirst for You, my whole being longs for You, in a dry and parched land where there is no water" (Psalm 63:1).

Our God, You are an unchanging God. The promises that You spoke to Your people centuries ago show Your heart for Your people always. We thank You that You are still the God who answers the poor and needy; that You satisfy their thirst in a dry and weary land; that You will not forsake Your own.

Father, You are the All-Sufficient One. Pour Your showers of blessing over our dry and cracked places. Fill up our loneliness, our emptiness, our longings, our inadequacies. Refresh and revive our souls. "Give us [Your living] water so that [we] won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming...to draw water” (Luke 4:15) from our own broken cisterns that cannot hold water (Jeremiah 2:13).

There shall be showers of blessing: This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above.

Refrain: Showers of blessing, Showers of blessing we need: Mercy-drops round us are falling, But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessing, Precious reviving again; Over the hills and the valleys, Sound of abundance of rain.

There shall be showers of blessing; Send them upon us, O Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing, Come, and now honor Thy Word.

There shall be showers of blessing: Oh, that today they might fall, Now as to God we’re confessing, Now as on Jesus we call!

There shall be showers of blessing, If we but trust and obey; There shall be seasons refreshing, If we let God have His way.
