Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown (Matthew 13:8).
Oh God and Father of the true vine, our Lord Jesus, You are the gardener. In Your wisdom, You cut off lifeless branches that bear no fruit, and You prune those that bear fruit so they become even more fruitful (John 15).
Thank You for Your word, Lord, that You sow into our lives. Remove the rocky places from my heart, and keep me deeply rooted in You, so that "when trouble or persecution comes because of the word," I will not become "withered and scorched" and "quickly fall away." Prune away the "worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth," so that they do not choke the word that makes me clean.
Lord, thank You for the abundant harvest You produce. Cause Your truth to flourish in my innermost being. Make my heart fertile and receptive. Clear the weeds; "let [Your] teaching fall like rain and [Your] words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants" (Deuteronomy 32:2).
