Daily Affirmations - Watering Weeds Day 5

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared" (Matthew 13:24-26).

Heavenly Father, God of all wisdom, thank You for Your Holy Spirit who guides us "into all the truth" (John 16:13). Lord, we are surrounded so much deception, so many lies! Your word tells us that "evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived" (2 Timothy 3:13).

"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons" (1 Timothy 4:1). All around us, in the natural world, and in the spiritual, we see truth and reason being twisted and distorted in subtle and overt ways. Clever schemes and evil entrapments seem to lurk in at every turn, and many find it difficult to know what to believe. We desperately need Your wisdom! Deliver us from evil.

Lord, keep me grounded in Your word. Give me discernment and understanding from the Holy Spirit, so that I will not "water lies," or become entangled in the "weeds" of deception. Help me to be like the noble Bereans and "examine the Scriptures every day" to search for truth (Acts 17:11). In my life, "let God be true, and every human being a liar” (Romans 3:4).

Help me hide Your word in my heart (Psalm 119:11). I want to know Your truth so that I "do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1).

Help me to "continue in what [I] have learned (2 Timothy 3:14). Send me your light and truth to guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to where you live" Psalm 43:3.
